There’s 9 here. And I’m trying to figure out how to experience all of them as quickly as possible. These train journeys aren't just about comfort — they take you off the beaten path, through dramatic landscapes, and into regions that are sometimes as difficult to access by other means.

The Andean Explorer, Peru Route: Cusco to Arequipa - through the Peruvian Andes
Hop on the Andean Explorer and journey through one of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges, the Andes, in South America. Starting in Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire, the train travels across the altiplano, passing through high-altitude valleys and rugged terrain. One of the key highlights of the Rocky Mountaineer is the panoramic glass-domed coaches, which provide 360-degree views. One route that stood out to us was their ‘Journey Through the Clouds’, where you pass through the Thompson River Canyon, with its unique rock formations.
With towering peaks like Mount Robson and Mount Athabasca in view, contrasted with the emerald-green lakes of Lake Louise and Peyto Lake. Spot elk, bears, eagles, and deer in their natural habitats as you journey through dense pine forests and waterfalls and over the Kicking Horse River and the Fraser River.
